Unpacking Kit RC Cars Feeling Like A Big Win

My Carpet Dream

Today, I decided to stop being lazy and start unpacking the kits. It felt good to see the Team Associated cars I’ll use at the RC Pitstop and Raceway.

I opened up the used buggy from eBay, and I’m pretty proud of my purchase. It’s exactly how the seller described it. Today, I purchased a used SR2100 receiver for about $68 to go with it. I still need a motor and an ESC. For this build, I was really trying to go all used to save money, but I’m wondering if I should just get the ESC new.

The Reedy Blackbox 1000Z+ is around $160 on my favorite store, Amazon. When looking for a used one on eBay, they are going for about $100. By saving $60, am I really getting a good deal on a device that controls everything in the car? You don’t really know how they were used during their lifetime.

The car has a motor, but I won’t use it because I don’t know what it is. I know it’s not a Reedy S-Plus 17.5T. I need to look at it a little more closely and see if I can figure out what exactly it is.

If I had the right engine for this kit, I would be 100% ready to race. I could also put all of the electronics I bought for the new car in this one, which may be worth considering.
