I keep coming back to the Lexus IS500 just because it’s a Lexus. I currently own two Lexus cars and love them. You talk about cars that are solid that you can keep forever; it’s them.
What made me second guess owning the car was my insurance quote. I was told it would be like $800 more than my current Lexus, which is a 2015 CT200. That’s a lot of change, especially because a used Taycan was cheaper.
Back to the Lexus IS500, the one that I like is orange. I know that’s an acquired taste but for me it’s perfect. For the price point of these cars I don’t want it to look like everyone else’s. I’ve found two of them on Carmax.
I believe a car is an expression of its owner. It’s a representation of what you feel about yourself and the life that you are currently living. Over the years it changes so your tastes change. I’m a technology person so that’s why I like the Taycan. On the flip side I’ve gotten to a point where I’m a little conservative with money but believe you get what you pay for; hence the Lexus.
I want a car that I can keep forever if I want to. I like to keep my cars for a really long time and own them. I had a Honda Pilot bought new that ended up with 200,000 miles before getting rid of it.
Right now I’m flipping back and forth. I know my heart is with the Porsche but anything can happen. Don’t let your emotions cloud your judgement when making purchases. Do what makes sense so long term you aren’t caught in a bind.
Plus, the IS500 has a V8 with no trickery. Get in, turn the key and there’s instant power. No turbo chargers to worry about – straight reliability.
