Summer fun to me is getting time to play with slot cars. When it’s just too stinking hot to be outside; stay in and race. The perfect car for me is the Carrera Go because they are pretty tough and rugged. If you want to race hard and not worry about breaking anything these little cars are it.
There are no fancy lights or electronics in this type of car. They were intended to fill the space for little kids. With a little modification, I run them on my large Scalextric track. The only tweak that needs to be done is shaving down the guide so it fits comfortably in the Scalextric track slot.
So what’s the big deal with the Carrera Go for summer fun? When you have them on a full-size track you can get the cars up to full speed. There aren’t a lot of cars that you can do that with. I have maybe a six feet straight section and I can completely floor the cars and it is a great experience. These cars are pretty fast to where an adult won’t get bored with them.
If you are getting into these cars for the first time you’ll be looking at around $20 to $30 for one. These cars were cheap one time ago but with prices rising on all cars it’s affecting Carrera Go as well. That’s one reason I’ve slowed down a little on purchasing these.
