I tried to wait as long as possible before purchasing a new C8 Corvette toy. I just couldn’t wait any longer, so yesterday I made it happen. I’m probably one of the biggest Corvette fans you’ll ever meet.
I used to have a C5 Corvette, but had to get rid of it for something more practical – LOL. So, if you’ve ever wondered who the Corvette SUV buyer could be, it’s me. I’m hoping that it truly looks like a Corvette but with room to fit luggage for trips. Chevrolet, please don’t disappoint me because I’m counting on this SUV to get me back in the Corvette game.
In the meantime, I’ve put my dreams into toy cars which led me to the purchase of the beauty pictured in this blog post. Had to go with the mini-z C8 Corvette toy with the gun metal paint scheme or livery because Hobby Town Wichita didn’t have the yellow.
I always try to support my local stores when I can, so here’s my shout out to Hobby Town USA Wichita for being great when I came in. They talked to me about their new Mini-Z track and told me it was free to drive on whenever the store is open. I’ve been thinking about buying one of these tracks myself to setup at home.
My intention wasn’t to purchase a new C8 Corvette toy car when I went into the store. I really just wanted to see that track but the guy working was so nice. That’s when I decided to make the purchase of the car even though I already have the Mercedes AMG GT3 that I absolutely love.
Today is Turkey Day (Thanksgiving) so I haven’t had a chance to open it up. I’ll probably wait until tomorrow before messing with it. I’m assuming the chassis and electronics are the same as the Mercedes just with a different body. I decided to purchase another car because the bodies are $50 each.
The reason that I like the mini-z cars is because you don’t need a fancy big tote for them. In my Mercedes AMG GT3 post you’ll see that I have a kids lunch pale that I use to tote mine around. Since it’s not big enough to hold two cars now I’ll have to find me a second lunch pale – LOL.
I couldn’t finish this post without showing some pictures of my other Corvette memorabilia. These are all located in my toy car room with my RC and slot cars.
If you aren’t familiar with mini-z cars like this C8 Corvette toy don’t be fooled by their size. On the right surface these cars are extremely quick and can be a little difficult to drive. That’s what makes them worth it and the price isn’t so high that you are scared to play with it.
This is a good car to get into the hobby sport. If you decide to walk away from the hobby you don’t have a lot invested. Some kid would love to have this car so you could even just give it away. I encourage you to try one of these, you won’t be disappointed.
Just remember to make sure to take it out of training mode. I forgot to do that and thought, “Ah, it’s not that fast”. I was running it in the kitchen thinking I was an expert driver. I finally read the instructions and noticed that’s how it comes by default out of the box. Took it out of training mode and realized I had a lot of practice to do because the little car hauls butt.
