Saturday turned out to be a day of focus on the front end. I didn’t intend to start trying to rebuild a front end but once you start taking things apart you see things that are wrong.
The intent of the day was just to replace the front servo. I started running into stripped head screws and that made me have to start building a shopping list.
Note that there is a difference between RC10B6.2 and RC10B6.3. The first thing I noticed in the instructions is how the servo sits in there. The 6.3 uses like a bracket type of setup while the 6.2 uses a mount configuration concept with spacers. The reason this is so important is that the parts are so different and won’t fit correctly if you have the wrong ones.
Probably spent about an hour disassembling the entire front. Once again, I’ve never worked on a kit. So it probably took me a little longer to get some of these things taken apart than someone with experience.
I’m getting some on-the-job experience with this used RC10B6.2. You can’t teach this stuff, it’s truly something you have to experience.
I’ve already had my first exposure to an Associated Electronics discontinued part that I need (91766 Front Ball Stud Mount). Luckily I was able to find a replacement part number (91884) that’s supposed to work but had to get it from eBay. I sure hope that it fits correctly, I didn’t spend a lot of time trying to verify.
