This Unicorn Has Stolen My Heart Hidden At Toyota

Base Porsche Taycan At Toyota Dealership

An unexpected unicorn sitting a couple of blocks from my home. I don’t expect to see a Porsche at a Toyota dealership but here one is. It’s a 2022 Porsche Taycan with heads-up display and the extra screen on the passenger side. The crazy part is that it’s listed around $64,000 with 5,000 miles.

I had to see this so bad that I went during open hours. Usually, I visit the car lots on Sunday mornings so I can take my time and look in peace. My rule for myself is not to test drive until I’m pretty sure I’m going to purchase something. The reason is because I don’t want my emotions to take over before I’ve financially worked through all the numbers and options. So, in this case the young salesman drove me around the parking lot. Man, I felt old – LOL.

Too bad this car isn’t a Cross Turismo, but I’m willing to keep an open mind. It had all of the options that I was looking for. My main thing is the heads-up display. I’ve always wanted to have one of those in a car. I didn’t get to see what all it showed since I wasn’t driving. It’s not the color Provence either but the black with tinted windows allowed me to look past that issue.

I did my research on this unicorn and figured out the Toyota dealership purchased it from Walser Auto Campus. Walser is the main Porsche dealership in my area. I’m making an assumption that Porsche is trying to get these used ones off of their lot, so it doesn’t affect new car sales.

So, I’m not completely committed to this car. I’ve done some basic numbers research and figured out that it’s near $1,000 car payment. That’s a little high for where I want to be. My goal with cars is to pay them off within two years to say financially solid. Could I make that payment? Yes, but do I want to make that payment? No

This is the point where I make sure to tell myself, “It’s just a car and there will be others”. The right car shouldn’t change your lifestyle. If it does the payments are too high. Right now, there’s nothing wrong with my other cars. This isn’t a need situation; it’s a want situation.

The start of my Taycan journey
