Today I decided to stop being lazy and start unpacking the kits. It felt good to see the Team Associated cars that I’ll be using at the RC Pitstop and Raceway.
I opened up the used buggy from eBay and I’m pretty proud of my purchase. It’s exactly how the seller described it. Today I purchased a used SR2100 receiver for about $68 to go with it. I’m still needing a motor and an ESC. For this build, I was really trying to go all used to save money but I’m wondering if I should just get the ESC new.
The Reedy Blackbox 1000Z+ is around $160 on my favorite store, Amazon. When looking for a used one on eBay they are going for about $100. By saving $60 am I really getting a good deal on a device that is controlling everything in the car? The used ones you don’t really know how they have been used in their life span.
There’s a motor in the car but I’m not going to use it because I don’t know what it is. I know it’s not a Reedy S-Plus 17.5T. I need to look at it a little more closely and see if I can figure out what exactly it is.
If I had the right engine for this kit I would be 100% ready to race. I could take all of the electronics I bought for the new car and put them in this one. That may be something worth considering.
