When searching for your next purchase consider the history of the car. Cars that go up in value tend to have some type of story. Maybe they were driven by an actor or won some type of famous race in the past.
If you know anything about the Ford GT40 it proves the concept. The car won the Lemans against the Ferrari back in the day. There was also a movie about it, Ford vs Ferrari. If you look at the pricing of these slot cars it has exploded.
Go to a car show or watch something on television with car owners. Most of them can tell you the entire history of the car that they own. They will tell you a fact that they are proud of, that’s the trigger of why they own the car.
Toy cars are no different. A lot of times collectors will relate stories to their childhood. For example, they will say something like, “As a kid, I remember my dad driving this car as I sat in the back seat listening to – fill in the blank”.
The story will be unique for each person but the reasoning why they do it is the same.
