Toy C8 makes changes to eBay auction rules now

The toy C8 Corvette by Scalextric (Hornby) starts to challenge what the cost of a 1/32 slot car should be. I’m not sure about you but I never thought toy cars would be hitting $65 new. What’s even more crazy is that there wasn’t an auction on the car pictured. It had a buy-it-now price and that was it.

It’s like we forgot these are toys meant to be played with. Now, it’s a question of whether to risk damaging the car for a little bit of fun.

It all depends on why as a collector you have these cars. You may be the type that it doesn’t matter how much the car is, you are going to play with it anyway. On the flip side, your intent may be to sit on the car for a year or two and sell it for a profit.

Gosh, I’m somewhere in the middle – I want to enjoy the car but am open to making a profit later. I invested in this toy C8 Corvette because of curiosity. I wanted to know what made the Scalextric and Carrera cars different from each other.

I haven’t had a chance to play with any of the cars purchased in the last two weeks. I truly went on a spending spree looking for them. Over the next couple of blog posts, I’ll be touching on what I see specifically from each.

One of the first things that I was interested in was the colors. Are the greys and yellows the same or is there a little bit of a difference? Not much of a difference as you can see in the picture. Don’t waste a lot of time worrying about if one brand’s graphics is better than the others.
