Dodge Viper 1/32 slot cars can’t seem to catch a break. It doesn’t grab the big money like some of the other slots out there. A couple of auctions are trying to start in the $50 range but don’t seem to be making much movement.
Since the Dodge Viper stopped production years ago I don’t think many people are aware of them. At least the younger generation probably has never heard of it. I’m on the edge of liking it versus not. I used to love them, it was between that and a Corvette. After researching and seeing how cheaply it was made it’s not in my top five cars anymore. How can you not love a V10 sports car though?
Only time will tell whether these cars will become a collector. Right now, it doesn’t appear to be its time. I would look for these slot cars to start going down in price to obtain potential buyers. The price will have to be somewhere in the $30 range to get some traction. I know that’s a little tough for owners with the Scalextric Limited Edition Viper. But right now, there don’t appear to be any buyers at the high-end $50 mark. I’ve been watching these cars for about two years now.
So where should you look to possibly invest? Keep an eye on the Camaros because they are starting to slowly make their way down. Don’t get me wrong, they are still hitting the $50 but you can occasionally find a hidden gem. That’s how you can determine when you are looking at the right group. If there are no other cars in the grouping where the auction isn’t starting lower don’t waste your time. I think what happens in this situation is some new sellers aren’t sure what the car is worth so they just go off the price of all other listed cars.
