I was able to finally get the gear removal done on the 1/5 Chimera adult RC car. I’m sure this is the type of repair work that keeps most people away from these types of cars. Once the gears were removed it help me see what was behind the entire assembly.
Looking at the diagrams in the RC manual to me is still like guess work. Until you can can actually see how these are put together with your own eyes it’s still kind of unclear. With the gear assembly removed it makes more sense of how the clutch bell goes onto the clutch. I thought that I was going to be able to easily unscrew the clutch screw and it wasn’t. As of this post I still haven’t been able to get it off.
To try and free the clutch I’m using some WD-40 and a penetrating catalyst that I saw on a YouTube video called Blaster. I’ve never used the Blaster before but I hope that it does what I need it to do. In the mean time I’ve also ordered some T-Handle Hex Wrenches. I was using some L-wrenches but I’ve always felt that I can’t generate enough power to turn the bolt with them.
It has been about 5 days since I’ve sprayed the Blaster on the clutch screws. I haven’t went out to check on them since I’m waiting for the T-Wrenches to show up. I received a notice that they should arrive in the mail today. My plan is to work on the car tonight or sometime tomorrow (Saturday).
